The curatorial categories

We evaluate machine-collaborative art across four distinct disciplines. Submissions must demonstrate both conceptual depth and rigorous algorithmic subversion.

02 / TAXONOMY

Four competitive disciplines

CATEGORY A

Latent Cinema

Moving image works exploring synthetic choreography, temporal interpolation, and neural narrative structures within the latent space.

CATEGORY B

Generative Sculpture

Physical or simulated three-dimensional forms derived from algorithmic instructions, neural networks, and machine-directed fabrication.

CATEGORY C

Algorithmic Subversion

Critical software art, adversarial attacks, and code-based interventions that expose, disrupt, or reframe underlying machine-learning models.

CATEGORY D

Interactive Systems

Real-time responsive environments, feedback loops, and live neural networks that co-create with audience input and environmental data.

Conceptual Depth

Technical Subversion

Rigorous Pipeline

The work must transcend technical novelty, offering a profound contemporary critique of machine intelligence, human agency, and cultural memory.

We look for algorithmic subversion—using models in unintended, critical, or self-reflexive ways that expose their latent biases and limitations.

Artists must document their technical pipeline and training datasets, demonstrating clear curatorial rigor and intentionality over the generative output.

04 / INQUIRIES

Submission portal

Are collaborative entries permitted?

Yes. We highly encourage co-creation between contemporary digital artists, creative technologists, and machine-learning researchers.

Submissions are open globally to individual artists and collaborative labs. Review our technical constraints before uploading your portfolio.

What technical documentation is required?

Submissions must include a comprehensive system architecture diagram, training dataset origins, and a statement detailing conceptual depth.

How is intellectual property managed?

Laureates retain all intellectual property. The Latent Prize receives non-exclusive exhibition rights for archiving and public display.
